Dear Sir/Madam,
 
Thank you for your interest in our vacancy.
 
Because of the varied nature of our business and the small number of people who work here, one of the most important qualities we are looking for is flexibility. You would be required to undertake a wide variety of different tasks and possibly also be flexible in the days you work to cover sickness and holidays.
 
The vacancy is permanent and could either be part time (minimum 3 days per week) or full time (5 days per week) depending upon both your abilities and preferences.
 
Ideally you would be able to work from 9:30am to 5:30pm every day (except Wednesdays when we are closed) but days & hours may be negotiable for a suitable applicant.
 
Since we are open on both Saturday and Sunday, you would usually be expected to work these days, however if you are applying for the part time vacancy then working days may be weekdays or weekends.
 
The work involves a large variety of duties and will vary from day to day. The main work is retail sales - both in the shop and mail order. This involves dealing with customers face-to-face and processing mail order sales on a computer.
 
Your normal day would consist of serving customers in the shop, taking orders over the phone, entering details of orders onto the computer (a very simple sales program) and packing parcels. However you may at times be involved in general cleaning and maintenance and making cups of tea!
 
You should be flexible in the work that you are prepared to do and also the days you may be required to work in the future. In return you should find that we are quite flexible with regards to time off etc.
