Replacement empty battery case for the Midland 42 handheld.
Available in 6 cell (for alkaline batteries) or 8 cell (for NiCad/NiMH rechargeable batteries).
The 8 cell case also has a socket for a charger, allowing you to charge a set of batteries without removing them from the case.
This adapter is suitable for use with the Maycom AH27 and RadioShack handhelds. It is currently supplied free when you buy a new AH27. This adapter has two functions:
1. Fitted to the bottom of the handheld it can be used to connect an external 12V supply to power the radio (eg use in car with a cig lighter lead).
2. Fitted on top of the battery pack it can be used to connect a suitable charger to the batteries to charge them in-situ (ie charge all the batteries without having to remove them from the case.
The unit can even be fitted inbetween the radio and batteries and left as a permanent fixture, providing a power/charge socket.
New higher capacity NiMH version
A sealed 12V rechargeable battery pack for the Maycom AH27, Midland 42, and RadioShack handhelds.
Because this pack is a full 12V, it allows your radio to give a full 4W output. If you used nicads in the normal empty battery case, you will only have 9.6V (8 x 1.2v) and consequently the output from your radio will be lower.
