n our last newsletter I announced that we were intending to stock a selection of amateur radio equipment and asked anyone interested in receiving details to let us know. Hopefully by now all of those of you who expressed an interest will have received our first list of equipment - I am sorry it took so long to prepare but we were waiting for stock to arrive.
With the advent of the novice licence it has never been so easy to get started in the fascinating world of amateur radio - a weekend course and a multiple choice exam is all you need to get going.

Firstly, if you are within travelling distance you will save the postage costs (they charge £10 on base antennae) and you will also have the chance to examine any item before buying it.
Secondly, do you really want to end up with only 2 or 3 big suppliers in the country?  Over the past few years most of the smaller Amateur shops have disappeared, forced out of business by the big few. We have many customers come into the shop complaining about the lack of both CB and Amateur shops nowadays. It is only by supporting the independent shops that they will survive.
