ogether with this newsletter you should have received our new 2001 price list. I am confident that this is the largest listing of CB equipment stocked anywhere in the UK.
For the first time ever, the new list actually has slightly fewer items listed, but this does not mean our commitment to CB is any less. There are several reasons for this: firstly there is less equipment available (for example no manufacturer is currently making any UK 40 channel rigs) and secondly we thought it would make it easier for customers to choose if we listed less equipment.
In preparing the new list, I found that in many cases we were still offering the same item with different names on it. For example we may have the same style antenna from three manufacturers, with different model numbers but the same performance. Or we had amplifiers which were the same output, same components, but available under two or three different brand names. So I have tried to remove many of these duplications and just offer the most popular models.
We always have other items in stock which are not listed in the price list, so if there is anything in particular you are after which is not listed please ask - we could well have it.
If you know anyone else who would like a copy of our price list, all they need to do is send a sae and we will be pleased to send one out by return.
Please remember that unlike some other suppliers we keep all the items listed in stock (except for any short periods where items are unavailable). Over 95% of the order we receive are despatched the same day, and in most cases you get delivery the next day.

he other day I saw a report which said that NASA had recorded a sunspot maximum in February. If this is correct then we are now at the peak of the 11 year "skip" cycle, and judging by recent conditions it certainly sounds like it.
In these first couple of months of the year we have had customers commenting on the ideal skip conditions and reporting contacts to almost every corner of the globe.
Last week we had several customers having contacts to Australia and New Zealand.
Even after all this time, it still amazes me how CB signals can travel all the way to the other side of the world. You do not even need massive amounts of power, when conditions are right it is amazing how just a few watts can travel 1000's of miles.
For those of you who curse all the skip, because you want to talk 5 miles down the road, at least you have the conciliation that after it's peaked things will now slowly start to get quieter.
If you are into DX, I hope that 2001 will be a good year for you. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that we stock a range of pre-printed QSL cards, DX certificates and a rubber stamp for making your own. We have an illustrated leaflet showing the different designs we stock - available on request.

s you will see from our new price list we now have no new 40 channel rigs in stock whatsoever, we sold our very last Danita 1240 in January. We have done very well keeping stock for so long, most other suppliers ran out in the middle of last year after the factory producing the last 40 channel rigs closed down.
However, for those of you who don't want the latest 80 channel rig (which will usually go back to channel 9 every time you turn the ignition off), we have some good news. Over the years we have taken many sets in part-exchange, and when we had a clear up in our workshop we found we had over 100 used sets waiting to be serviced or repaired. So it looks as if we will have a good supply of used sets for some time to come.
We do not put any of the sets on sale until they have been thoroughly checked and serviced, so we can only put these out a few at a time. We have everything from DNT's at £19.50 to York 863's at about £60. If there is any particular set you are after it is worth asking, we may have one waiting to go on sale.

If you have not received this newsletter, please let us know and we will send you one !!
