he first, and only, 80 channel UK base station is the new Team 8000.
It has all the features you are likely to ask for, plus a few more. It is also nice to see a "proper" analogue signal meter on a set again.
Features include: four memories, channel scanning, memory scanning, ch.9 & ch.19 direct access, dual watch, and noise blanker.
The controls are a good size and well laid out, the channel change is rotary rather than push-button and there are also up/down channel change buttons on the microphone.
The multifeature LCD display shows both channel number and frequency, and also incorporates a "modulation" meter.
Internal inspection of the set shows a nicely designed circuit board without too many wires hung about, unlike earlier Team sets which looked a mess inside.
On test we found the set to perform well on both TX & RX. We found no problems with it, and unlike some other sets, like the Midlands,  it did not revert back to ch.9 every time you changed bands.
Overall the set proved a nice surprise. Although the feel quality does not live up to the classics like the Unidens, this set does all you need and in quite a compact unit.
Unfortunately it does seem to be priced rather high when you compare it to the equivalent mobiles, but since this is the only base set available you either pay up or stick to a mobile and power supply.

I hope that many of you managed to grab some of the clearance bargains either from your local Tandy store or from ourselves.
Unfortunately we could not send a list of the clearance items to all our customers because of the cost of postage, however we did send a list to all KLUB members and enclosed a list with orders we despatched at the time. I hope some of you found items of interest on this list, and managed to get what you wanted.
Included with this newsletter is a list of  items which we still have available at a reduced price. If you need any further information on any item and do not have a Tandy catalogue, we can photocopy any details from a catalogue for you.
There are still some real bargains in this list, so please take the time to have a good look at it. All the items are only available in limited quantities and when sold there will be no more available at these prices.
Although Tandy are discontinuing many items (for example all their components) there are currently no plans to change their authorised dealer network. So we hope to be able to offer you all the best items available from the Tandy catalogue.
There will also be a new Tandy catalogue out in November, but under their new name (which is not being revealed at the moment).
Check out our special offer on the top of the range base scanner (Pro-2042), which is reduced from a catalogue price of £299.99 to only £125.00 while stocks last. We have been selling 100's of these at this price so if you fancy one get it while you can.

Unfortunately this new version of the popular Midland-48 is not available as an 80-channel set until around October time, but I am sure it will be popular then.
We currently have the CEPT version, which is identical except it only covers the CEPT 40 channels.
The main difference is the proper analogue signal meter, very unusual nowadays. The LCD display is also larger and you can choose from a standard channel number display or a frequency display.
The set is the same size as the standard Midland-48 and uses the same channel change mic. The controls are all similar but laid out in a different arrangement, which I think makes the set easier to use.
A new feature is the "ESP2" Noise Killer. This does remove a lot of the normal background FM noise, but it does alter the sound of incoming signal completely and I can not say I liked it, but it's down to personal preference. Turn it on or off depending upon your personal preference.
As with previous Midland models, this one is microprocessor controlled and all the channels are pre-programmed in this. Consequently the 80 channel version should be no more expensive than this one.
