nclosed with this newsletter should have been  an application form for the British CB Confederation (BCBC), however at the time of going to print we had still not received the forms which they promised to have with us over a week ago. Although we have no connection whatsoever with this organisation (except for being a personal member myself) we offered to distribute these application forms in the hope that they could swell their membership.
The BCBC is the only national UK representative body for CB users, and as such I would encourage you to join. The larger their membership the greater their say when discussing the future of CB with the authorities.
In addition I would encourage everyone to have a CB licence. Not just because it is the legal thing to do, but also because the RA judge the popularity of CB by the number of licences issued. The more licences, the more frequencies we are likely to by given. If licence numbers continue to fall there is always the possibility that we may lose some of our frequencies (as has already happened with 934mHz).
So even if you think it's a waste of time, please consider getting a licence for the future of CB.
We have supplies of licence application forms - these are available free on request.
The BCBC can be contacted at: PO Box 5826, Basildon, Essex,SS16 5FQ.

ur massive outdoor clearance sale in September was a great success and it was nice to see so many of you here. There certainly looked to be plenty of you leaving with your arms full of bargains, I hope all of you who travelled to see us found something worthwhile.
The weather was good to us on the Saturday, and this turned out to be a record-breaking day for us. Unfortunately we only managed an hour or so on the Sunday before the rain started and spoiled the day. There were many who braved the rain and still found some (soggy) bargains - it's really quite amazing how many customers we had walking about the tables with their umbrella. At least this year we had some cover under the car-port whereas in the past we had nothing.
It's still undecided whether we will be having another of these sales next year, but we'll certainly let you know.
My thanks to all of you who attended and made it worthwhile for us, I do hope you found something.
The bargain of the weekend was the clearance of all our scrap base antennae. We sold the whole lot for £20 and despite the buyer bringing a big trailer it was still a struggle to get it all on. I hope he manages to make a few antenna from all those bits !!
For those of you who could not get to the sale we have put together some mobile antenna selections and some selection boxes. Details of these are included later in the newsletter. There are only a limited number of selection boxes available because these were made up at the time of the sale, and we can not get at the stock to make up any more.

ost of the new sets now available use electret (condenser) microphones rather than the 'traditional' dynamic mic.  Putting a standard dynamic mic on one of these sets will usually result in low modulation.
Because of the increased demand for electret replacement mics, we have now been able to reduce the price of the DM-502e from £8.95 to £7.50.
For more information about electret mics, there is now a section about them in the new edition of our "How to Wire Mics" book available at £2.95.
