| Our Opinion:
This looks like being the only 80 channel base station available in
the UK. It has all the features you could ask for from a set, plus a few more. It is nice
to see a proper signal meter on this set and a rotary channel change.
All the controls are a good size and easy to use, even the buttons are a
better size than on comparable mobile sets. Yet this is a very compact base unit, it
measures only 28cm x 8cm x 21cm.
Unlike some sets, you can easily change from one band to another by the press
of a single button, the set remains on whatever channel when it changes bands (i.e. it
doesn't go to ch.9).
Tests on both RX & TX showed good results, with a good 4w output. The
receive on our test set was quite low as it came out the box, but once it was retuned it
improved greatly. This is not a problem since we give all our sets a pre-sale service
before they are dispatched.
Internal inspection showed a nicely designed circuit board without too
many wires hung about or bits added on as an afterthought. This is a great improvement
over the early Team (40ch) base stations which looked a terrible mess inside (and worked
as badly).
Overall this set was a nice surprise. It worked well and the
construction seems very good. I actually thought it looked better in the flesh than it
does in the pictures we had previously seen.
If you need a base station set, then I am sure this one will suit your needs.
Forget the name, this "Team" is nothing like the old sets. |
