Our Opinion:
Midland have always made
good basic reliable sets, and this new model continues
that tradition.
Although using the latest surface mount technology, with
advanced features like channel scanning and LCD display,
the set is basic and very easy to use.
There are no fancy features except the new
"ESP Noise Killer". This feature claims to
reduce background noise by up to 95%. Initially I was sceptical about
this, especially after trying Cobra's "SoundTracker" system
(which I consider very poor), but after trying it for a while I found it
to. When the "ESP" is on, the background noise is more like
that on an AM set rather than the usual high background noise on FM.
The microphone is very compact and has
up/down channel change buttons.
For mobile use, this compact set is ideal,
offering all the features you need without all the
gimmicks that you don't.
