The Magnum Deltaforce is a top-of-range 10m
mobile radio with all the features you could ask for, and then some!
The outstanding feature is probably the transmitted audio - we have
had more customers comment on the "crisp" audio of this radio
than any other. There is really no need for any other microphone with
this radio, it's own offers excellent results.
The bright chrome front brings back memories of older radios, but
inside this is a brand new microprocessor controlled design.
The large backlit LCD display can display either frequency or channel
number, plus various other status indicators including a modulation
meter.
There is a "traditional" signal meter, indicating RF power,
signal strength or SWR.
Channel change is either via the large rotary channel change knob or
using the up/down buttons on the mic.
The output power is continuously variable, up to a maximum of
30Watts, with a minimum of approx 1W.
Compared to the older design of the President Lincoln, this radio has
advanced features such as 5 memory channels and programmable repeater
shift (with built-in 88.5Hz access tone). There is also a "last
channel recall" facility.
A unique feature to this radio is the built-in digital echo with
"talk-back" monitor. The "talk-back" allows you to
monitor your outgoing modulation (with the echo either on or off) and
lets you set the echo level correctly. The echo is far more than you
need - it gives even more echo than a melos! If set
"correctly" it sounds nice, overdo it and you'll sound
terrible.
Overall we have received very good all round reports on this radio -
from the excellent TX audio to the sensitive receiver.
On the negative side, the filtering on FM is very "wide"
and you will find that stations on adjacent channels tend to "bleedover"
(even when many miles away). This only occurs on FM, and to be honest
this radio is not really designed for FM use.
