One of the first things you notice about the Magnum 257 is
it's size - or rather lack of it! Considering it's high output and
shed load of features, it is no bigger than some many older 40ch
CB's! This makes it ideal for mobile use - not only is it easier
to mount, but it is also easier to hide from preying eyes.
The set has a full complement of controls and a nice large backlit
LCD display. You can switch this between frequency display or channel
display and it also incorporates a large signal meter together with
other "status" indicators.
The output power is continuously variable, up to a maximum of
30Watts, with a minimum of approx 1W.
Compared to the older design of the President Lincoln, this radio has
advanced features such as 5 memory channels, "last channel
recall", and programmable repeater shift (with built-in 88.5Hz
access tone).
The microphone gain and RF gain controls are fully variable rotary
controls.
The radio is supplied with a channel-change microphone, mounting
bracket and power lead.
